On April 8, Mr. YANG Jun, Vice President and Secretary General of the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE), attended and delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the “Voices of the Future: China-U.S. Youth Education and Cultural Exchange Forum”. Supported by CEAIE, the forum was co-hosted by East China Normal University (ECNU) and the China Institute of America. About 200 participants attended the event, including teachers, students, and leaders from relevant institutions of both countries.
In his address, YANG Jun pointed out that in response to the important initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping— “inviting 50,000 young Americans to China on exchange and study programs in the next five years”— the Chinese side launched Young Envoys Scholarship program (YES program). As the leading executing organization for the YES program, CEAIE has facilitated exchanges for over 28,700 American youths over the past two years, making significant contributions to the implementation of the “50,000 in Five Years” initiative.
YANG Jun noted that since 2023, CEAIE has vigorously supported ECNU, China Institute, and other organizations in advancing China-U.S. educational exchanges. These efforts have built a platform for intellectual exchange between education administrators and youth from both countries, laying a solid foundation for further cooperation. CEAIE will continue to serve as a bridge, leveraging flagship programs such as the YES program, “Zhi-Xing China”, and “Thousand Schools Hands Together Initiative” to further enhance mutual understanding, foster friendship among youths, and promote amity between the peoples of China and the U.S.
The year 2026 marks the centenary of the China Institute of America and the 20th anniversary of partnership between ECNU and China Institute. The forum invited renowned experts, scholars, and representatives of teachers and students dedicated to China-U.S. education and cultural exchange to engage in in-depth discussions on new trends, challenges, and opportunities in the new era.
