From July 26 to August 2, the Zhi-Xing China: U.S.-China University Student Leaders Academy and Blue-Sky Summer Camp took place in China. The program was organized by Shandong University with support from the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE). Eighteen students from Brigham Young University, Utah University, Utah State University, and Utah Valley University participated in the nine-day immersive program focused on language learning and cultural exchange.

The program combined language learning, cultural experience, and field exploration, earning praise from participants for its thoughtful design and engaging schedule. Cade (Blue Sky Student Organization) said the rich and compact activities greatly broadened students’ horizons. Nicholas (Utah University) highlighted the innovative Chinese courses on environmental protection and innovation, along with meaningful face-to-face exchanges in local communities. Macie (Brigham Young University) remarked that life in China felt safe and convenient, noting the remarkable efficiency of daily affairs. Through these diverse and hands-on experiences, students gained a deeper appreciation for the richness of Chinese traditions while also witnessing the country’s rapid advances in science and technology.

As one of the highlights of U.S.-China people-to-people exchanges, the Zhi-Xing China: U.S.-China University Student Leaders Academy was launched by CEAIE in 2017 to inspire and connect the next generation of global leaders from both countries. The program invites U.S. college students to participate in two- to three-week themed activities in China. Combining academic study with field exploration, the program pairs lectures, seminars, and dialogues with site visits across the country. Participants will gain firsthand insights into China’s latest social, economic, and technological developments, while also experiencing its rich history and diverse cultural traditions.
