China Education Association for International Exchange Proposed China-ASEAN Thousand Schools Hands Together Initiative on the Opening Ceremony of 2024 CAECW

The Opening Ceremony of 2024 China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week (CAECW), co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, the Ministry of Education of China, and the People’s Government of Guizhou Province, was held on the CAECW Permanent Host Site in Guiyang, Guizhou province on 21st August morning. Mr. Yang Jun, Secretary General of China Education Association for International Exchange, proposed China-ASEAN Thousand Schools Hands Together Initiative on the opening ceremony.

China-ASEAN Thousand Schools Hands Together Initiative

China and ASEAN countries, connected by the same mountains and rivers, share close affinity and a longstanding friendship. In 2023, President Xi Jinping announced an initiative for a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future. Over the past 11 years, China and ASEAN have achieved fruitful results in educational, cultural and youth exchanges. This year marks the ASEAN-China Year of People-to-People Exchanges. Ministry of Education of China officially launched China-ASEAN Thousand Schools Hands Together Initiative, aiming to promote economic and social development, and people-to-people exchanges by educational cooperation and exchanges in larger scale and deeper level. China Education Association for International Exchange, as the leading executive organization, proposes a series of activities of China-ASEAN Thousand Schools Hands Together Initiative.

Let us join hands to promote closer communication between teachers and students, conduct colorful exchange activities, deepen the cooperation of language teaching and intercultural communication, enhance mutual understanding in history and culture, and broaden the breadth of exchanges of different civilizations with the affection of education. Let us join hands to strengthen vocational education cooperation, co-build technical service centre, training and employment base to cultivate more technically skilled personnel, so as to meet updated demands of regional industry and enterprises, and enhance the depth of industrial transformation and upgrading with the help of education. Let us join hands to develop innovative cooperation, jointly cultivate high-quality talents, continuously elevate the level of scientific and research cooperation, address the common challenges of mankind, and lead social innovation and development with the strength of education.

Let us take action actively, take the advantage of excellent digital education resources and platform, carry out extensive exchanges, deepen practical cooperation and converge the power of education to serve the development of China-ASEAN comprehensive strategic partnership and to make greater contributions to construct a closer community of a shared future for China-ASEAN.
