On July 14, 2024, Zhi-Xing China: Oregon International Ballet Academy Delegation commenced its activities in Beijing. A group of 20 exceptional young students and teachers, hailing from the Oregon International Ballet Academy, Rosemont Ridge Middle School, and the University of Arizona, etc. arrived in China for an academic exchange and cultural visit. They will engage in discussions and interactions on the art of ballet with Chinese faculty and students, experience the charm of traditional Chinese dance, and foster deeper understanding and friendship between the youth of both sides. The delegation is scheduled to visit Beijing, Tianjin, and Shanghai. Ms. FU Bo, Deputy Secretary-General of CEAIE participated in the opening ceremony held at Capital Normal University and delivered a speech.

Fu Bo emphasized in her speech that she expected the ballet students to see and observe as much as they can during their stay in China, explore the traditional and friendly folk tales between China and the United States, share insights from their dance studies with their Chinese peers, and collaboratively contribute their youthful energy to the cultural exchanges between the two sides.

The students expressed their boundless curiosity and eagerness for China prior to their departure. They had gained a foundational understanding of China’s rich history, cultural heritage, stunning natural landscapes, and vibrant artistic scene through books, videos, and other avenues, and they were eager to personally explore China with their own eyes. American student Molly McCoy mentioned that she has been studying ballet for eight years and is eager to meet with faculty and students from prestigious institutions like the Beijing Dance Academy and the Shanghai Theatre Academy Dance School, to personally immerse herself in Chinese dance and to make new friends.

To extend a warm welcome to the delegation, students from the Capital Normal University Art Troupe showcased a range of captivating performances, including bamboo flute solos, Beijing Opera duets, and violin solos.
