On July 1, Dr. Liu Limin, President of China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE), held a meeting with Mr. Bertrand Lortholary, French Ambassador to China, on promoting France’s role as the Country of Honor of 2024 China Annual Conference & Expo for International Education(CACIE 2024).
Dr. LIU gave an overall introduction of CEAIE and the previous cooperation with France. He said that the year 2024 marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France. In early May, during the state visit to France, Chinese President XI Jinping put forward that we welcome the participation of France as the country of honor in CACIE 2024 and, would like to bring the total number of French students in China to more than 10,000, and double the number of young Europeans on exchange programs to China in the next three years. It fully demonstrates the great importance that Chinese government has attached to China-France education exchanges. He added that China-France cooperation in education will act as an important stabilizer in the current situation of complex international relations. CEAIE will work together with French Embassy in China and Campus France for the fruitful achievements of France at CACIE 2024 and will further enhance student mobility on study and exchange programs, build more platforms of cooperation and promote the quality development of China-France education cooperation.
Mr. Bertrand Lortholary spoke highly of CACIE in promoting educational cooperation between France and China. He expressed the delight of France to be the Country of Honor of CACIE for the third time after 2004 and 2014 and the appreciation for the great support by CEAIE. He said that, over the previous years, a series of important consensus on promoting France-China people-to-people exchanges have been reached by the two presidents. French Embassy in China and Campus France will continue to strengthen cooperation with CEAIE in activity preparation for CACIE 2024 and will continue to promote institutional cooperation and student mobility between the two countries in the future.
Under the theme Education for All, the Unknown and the Future, CACIE 2024 will be held with about 100 bilateral and multilateral activities from October 26 to November 2 in Beijing and other main cities of China. It is expected that more than 4,500 educators from more than 60 countries will attend and more than 500 well-known universities from more than 20 countries will participate in the Expo.
Mr. YANG Jun, Secretary General of CEAIE, Mr. Florent Aydalot, Counsellor of Culture and Education Cooperation of French Embassy in China, and Ms. Barbara Gandriaux, General Coordinator of Campus France in China attended the meeting.
