TVET Sparkles, Innovation Connects: 2021 China-ASEAN Rising Star Innovation Lab Lights up Guiyang

    On September 24;, 2021; China-ASEAN Rising Star Innovation Lab was successfully held during the China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week in Guiyang. The event was supported by the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges, Ministry of Education of China, co-organized by the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) and ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), co-hosted by Shaanxi Polytechnic Institute and Guizhou Industry Polytechnic College, and assisted by Guangxi Vocational and Technical College.


    A total of 60; Chinese and ASEAN students with their national costumes from 13; vocational colleges comprising 12; Rising Star teams ( RS teams) in China presented their projects and exchanged views on the theme of TVET Sparkles, Innovation Connects. The event was live stream both in China and to all ASEAN Member States to celebrate the 30;th anniversary of the dialogue relations.


Dr. Liu Limin, President of CEAIE, Ms. Liu Jin, Director-General of International Cooperation and Exchanges Department of Chinese Ministry of Education, Mr. Chen Dehai, Secretary-General of ACC, Mr. Wang Yongli, Secretary-General of CEAIE, and Mr. Yu Yougen, Deputy Secretary-General of CEAIE attended the event.


Diplomats from Embassies of eight ASEAN member states in China, and relevant educational authorities, international organizations, TVET institutions, and enterprises from China and ASEAN countries participated in the event.



At the opening ceremony, President Liu Limin addressed to the students, saying that youth is the most active and energetic force in the entire society. He encouraged everyone to set up lofty ideals, maintain firm confidence, learn to cooperate and share, and grow up to be masters in all walks of lives. Director-General Liu Jin also expressed her expectations for the young participants. She urges the students to attach importance to practice and innovation, and become talents in the future. At the same time, Director-General Liu Jin welcomes more ASEAN students to study in China.



The 12; RS teams demonstrated entrepreneurship skills in four thematic domains, namely cultural creativity, industrial innovation, business entrepreneurship and corporation support. An expert team composed of Mr. Su Yu, Director of the Press and Public Relations Department of ACC, Mr. Tian Hao, Vice President of Shaanxi Polytechnic Institute, Mr. Hu Zongchao, Vice President of Guizhou Industry Polytechnic College, and Mr. Zhang Ying, Founder of Suyan Juliang E-commerce Platform, provided prompt comments and constructive feedback on the projects.



At the closing ceremony, Mr. Wang Yongli, Secretary-General of CEAIE, Mr. Chen Dehai, Secretary-General of ACC, Ms. Natthira Krasaesarn,Minister-Counsellor of Royal Thai Embassy, Ms. Arianto Surojo, Director of Information and Public Relations Division of ACC and Ms. He Pei, Director of Department of TVET Programs and Professional Training, CEAIE, awarded honorary certificates to the 12; RS teams (13; vocational colleges). Yangzhou Polytechnic Institute won the Award of RS Excellence; Yangzhou Polytechnic College won the Award of RS Teamwork; Shaanxi Polytechnic Institute won the Award of RS Influence; Jiangsu Vocational Institute of Commerce, Liuzhou City Vocational College, Nanjing Vocational College of Information Technology, and Guizhou Vocational and Technical College of Water Resources & Hydropower Tongren Polytechnic College won the Award of RS Creativity; Hebei Vocational University of Industry and Technology, Zhejiang Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engine, Jiangsu Food & Pharmaceutical Science College, Guangxi Vocational and Technical College and Chongqing Three Gorges Vocational College won the Award of RS Outlook.



As one of the most important TVET events during the China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week, the 2021; China-ASEAN Rising Star Innovation Lab aims to encourage students to develop innovative and entrepreneurial skills and international core competitiveness, and to provide a high level stage for students to display their talent, with the goal to serve the China-ASEAN TVET community.
