From July 14th to 27th, more than 60 American students and teachers from Washington D.C., New York, California, Illinois, Ohio, Missouri, and Michigan came to China, visiting Beijing, Chengdu, Xi'an, and Shanghai in groups. The closing ceremony for the 2024 Zhi-Xing China: U.S.-China Student Leaders Delegations was held in Shanghai on July 26th. Mr. YANG Jun, Secretary General of China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE), and Prof. MENG Zhongjie, Vice President for Global Engagement of East China Normal University attended the event and delivered remarks.
American students shared their observations and findings from their two-week visit to Beijing, Chengdu, Xi’an, and Shanghai. They noted the seamless integration of traditional Chinese culture with modern infrastructure, where ancient city walls stand alongside high-tech industries, and were very much impressed by China’s efforts in sustainable development, innovation, and technology, with extensive use of electric vehicles and green energy in urban areas.
During their two-week visit, they explored historical sites, prestigious higher education institutions and enterprises with their Chinese peers, such as Peking University, East China Normal University, Xidian University, Chengdu Chenghua Jiaxiang Foreign Languages School, Visa Beijing Innovation Center, and the Visa Community-based Financial Education Program. They experienced Chinese school life, toured cities with host families, witnessed the rich and diverse Chinese culture and rapid urban modernization, and gained a more comprehensive and in-depth understanding of China, fostering connections and friendships with Chinese peers.

YANG Jun encouraged the American students to remain open-minded, share their experiences in China with their family and friends, learn from their Chinese peers, cooperate with each other, and maintain close contact to foster mutual understanding and lifelong friendships. He reiterated CEAIE‘s commitment to providing a platform for youth exchanges and promoting cultural exchanges between China and the U.S.

YANG Jun presented the YES Certificate to the participating American students and teachers.

During the visit to Chengdu, the 2024 U.S.-China Youth Forum: One World, Our Future was held on July 22nd. Ms. FU Bo, Deputy Secretary-General of CEAIE, attended the event and had a friendly exchange with the students.
In carrying out the initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping of inviting a total of 50,000 U.S. young people to visit China for exchanges over the next five years, CEAIE developed the Zhi-Xing China – U.S.-China Student Leaders Exchange Program and Zhi-Xing China: U.S.-China University Student Leaders Academy under the YES Framework.
