THE 2025 CCHEIC CAPACITY BUILDING EVENT SUCCESSFULLY HELD

In order to better help the Chinese universities to further open up the outside world, the 2025 Capacity-Building Event of China-Central and Eastern European Countries Higher Education Institutions Consortium (CCHEIC), which was hosted by China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) and organized by Dalian University of Technology (DUT), was successfully held in Dalian, Liaoning Province, from April 11th to 13th. A total of about 160 university leaders and representatives from more than 90 universities and provincial education departments attended this event. Fu Bo, Deputy Secretary-General of CEAIE and Prof. Li Cheng'en, Vice President of DUT gave welcoming remarks. Distinguished guests, including Zhou Li, Deputy Director-General of Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of Chinese Ministry of Education, Xia Xiaoxi, Counsellor of Department of European Affairs of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Secretariat of Cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries, and Honecz Anna Lujza, Cultural and Educational Counsellor of the Hungarian Embassy in Beijing, Director of Liszt Institute Hungarian Cultural Center Beijing, attended and made presentations during the event.

Fu Bo pointed out that since its establishment in 2014, CCHEIC has effectively promoted cooperation between universities on both sides, and has achieved fruitful results in bilateral and multilateral cooperation between universities in China and CEEC. It is now an important platform for educational exchanges and cooperation with wide recognition. As the Secretariat of Chinese side, CEAIE will continue to play a bridging role in promoting talent training, exchange of teachers and students, and long-term and short-term youth exchanges at a higher level and in more dimensions, so as to promote the vigorous development of high-level education opening-up to the outside world and cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries.

Li Cheng’en mentioned that as the Chinese leading university of CCHEIC's Academic Network for Sciences, DUT is willing to build a high-speed channel with members of CCHEIC to strengthen academic exchanges, enhance scientific research cooperation, and accelerate the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. It aims to level up the quality and efficiency of educational cooperation between two sides and make practical contributions to the welfare of the people.
Zhou Li and Counsellor Xia Xiaoxi gave themed lectures respectively on the opening-up strategy and policy on China-Europe cooperation and the current situation and future cooperation opportunities between China and CEEC. Through in-depth analysis of the new situation of the development of China-CEEC relations, the presentations introduced the interactive models and development trends of education exchanges between China and Europe. In the future, it is expected that universities will continue to promote pragmatic cooperation with Europe and constantly inject new energy for China to build a world-renowned education center with strong influence, and promote the steady and long-term cooperation between both sides.
Honecz Anna Lujza briefly introduced the general situation of education in Hungary and put forward valuable suggestions for strengthening bilateral cooperation in the next stage.

The event also invited three experts, Chen Wen, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office of China University of Mining and Technology, Prof. Dong Xixiao, Deputy Dean of the School of European Languages and Cultures of Beijing Foreign Studies University, and Prof. Meng Tao, Dean of the International Business School of Dongbei University of Finance & Economics, to share and engage. The Chinese Secretariat of CCHEIC reported on recent work and plans, and Ningbo University took the chance to introduce the China-CEEC Educational Exchange Portal. In order to help the audience understand the effectiveness of the disciplinary construction and internationalization of "Double First Class" universities, visits were organized to the DUT History Museum and National Key Laboratories.

Initiated in 2019, the Capacity Building Event has helped Chinese universities enhance their international communication capabilities and promote the quality and efficiency of China-CEEC educational cooperation. The audience speak highly of this year’s rewarding event. Through expert interpretation and practical exchanges between universities, it helps participants further understand the trends and strengths of China-Europe educational exchange and cooperation, and builds bridges for universities to understand policies and learn from peers.
