CCHEIC Capacity Building Event Is Successfully Held

On October 12, 2024, the 2024 China-Central and Eastern European Countries Higher Education Institutions Consortium (CCHEIC) Capacity Building Event, was successfully held in Beijing. Organized by China Education Association for International Exchange(CEAIE), about 60 university leaders and representatives from 28 Chinese colleges and universities attended the event. Fu Bo, Deputy Secretary-General of CEAIE, Zhou Li, Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange of the Chinese Ministry of Education, and Xia Xiaoxi, Counselor of the Secretariat of Cooperation Between China and Central and Eastern European Countries, attended and made presentations.

In her report, Fu Bo shared the fruitful results achieved since CCHEIC’s establishment in 2014. Initiated in 2019, the Capacity Building Event has helped Chinese universities enhance their international communication capabilities and promote the quality and efficiency of China-CEEC educational cooperation. To better implement the significant initiative announced by the Chinese President Xi Jinping during his visit to France this year, “promoting the number of French students studying in China to exceed 10,000 in the next three years, and double the scale of European youth exchanges in China”, the CCHEIC will continue to play its role as a bridge, and carry out the Young Envoys Scholarship (YES) Program to promote youth exchanges between China and European countries.

Milan Kuzmanovic, Third Secretary of the Serbian Embassy in China, and Metodi Negrevski, General manager of EduLab Bulgarian-Chinese Centre for Culture and Education, gave introductions on the educational, systems of the two countries.


By participating the Event, representatives from Chinese universities and colleges gained a deeper understanding of the latest developments in cooperation with Central and Eastern European universities, learned valuable experiences from peer institutions, and will be full of confidence in continuing to deepen cooperation with European higher education community in the future.
