China-Southeast Asia Capacity Building Workshop on Transforming TVET and Adult Education for Sustainable Rural Development Held in Ningbo

From 15-19 June, 25 TVET officials, policymakers, administrators, practitioners, and scholars from 8 Southeast Asian countries participated in the Capacity Building Workshop on Transforming TVET and Adult Education for Sustainable Rural Development in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province.
The Workshop was jointly organized by China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE), UNESCO International Research and Training Centre for Rural Education (UNESCO INRULED), SEAMEO Regional Centre for Technology Education Development (SEAMEO TED), and Ningbo Institute of Vocational and Adult Education.
On June 16, the Workshop kicked off with a net-working event, gathering the delegation and Chinese representatives from education institutions, government departments and enterprises to share experience and have insightful discussions on education and industry integration for collective development.
On June 17 to 18 , the delegates visited Ningbo Polytechnic, Ningbo Foreign Affairs School and local enterprises including Haitian Group, Geely Group and Fotile Group, and made field visits to rural revitalization base, eco-farm, art village and cultural heritage park in Ningbo, observing the practical methods and achievements of local TVET and adult institutions in promoting rural economic diversification, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, protecting intangible cultural heritage and achieving sustainable rural development through skills development.
Prior to their visits to Ningbo, the delegation participated in a symposium on "Transforming TVET and Adult Education for Sustainable Rural Development" under the framework of the Workshop on June 15 in Beijing . The symposium was held jointly by UNESCO INRULED, UNESCO Regional Office for East Asia, SEAMEO TED and Institute of Vocational and Adult Education at Beijing Normal University, with guidance and support from Secretariat of the Chinese National Commission for UNESCO and CEAIE. Over 100 policymakers, researchers and educators in the field of TVET and adult education attended the symposium on site, and more than 1,500 people joined live broadcast online.
CEAIE is dedicated to advancing China-ASEAN TVET cooperation through the China-ASEAN TVET Consortium (CATC). This Workshop is an important event held within the framework of CATC, aiming at enhancing mutual understanding and friendship and deepening academic exchanges and strategic cooperation in the fields of education and rural development between China and Southeast Asian countries.
