On June 16, 2026, the closing ceremony of the 2026 Zhi-Xing China: U.S.-China Academic Impact Program was held in Beijing. On behalf of the host, Mr. Yu Yang, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE), attended the event and delivered remarks.

This year’s program invited nine university leaders, faculty experts, and administrators from three U.S. institutions to visit China, namely California State University, Chico, California State University, Northridge and Kentucky State University. The program participants traveled to Shanghai, Nantong, Hangzhou and Beijing, where they visited different universities for face-to-face exchanges with Chinese faculty and students. They also visited the Alibaba Group, gaining a comprehensive understanding of China’s multi-tiered talent cultivation system, the internationalization models of its universities, and the outcomes of industry-education integration.

The 10-day immersive visit helped the U.S. fellows move beyond their previous stereotyped perceptions of China. The fellows agreed that people-to-people ties are the foundation of U.S.-China relations, and that only through in-person visits and in-depth exchanges can barriers be removed and mutual understanding be enhanced. They were deeply impressed by the open and inclusive atmosphere of China’s higher education institutions and the warmth and hospitality of the people they met. At the closing ceremony, the U.S. participants shared their achievements and deeper thoughts on future collaboration opportunities between the U.S. and Chinese higher education communities.

Mr. Yu Yang extended sincere congratulations to the delegation on the successful completion of their fellowship. He encouraged them to share their firsthand experiences and observations back in the United States, and also emphasized that CEAIE will continue to build diverse platforms for exchange, expand cooperation channels, and facilitate sustained two-way exchanges between young people of both countries. CEAIE welcomes more U.S. scholars, young faculty and students to participate in the Zhi-Xing China program and the Young Envoys Scholarship (YES) Program.
