Secretary General Yang Jun Leads A Chinese Higher Education Delegation to NAFSA 2024

From May 26 to 30, Mr.Yang Jun, Secretary General of China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE), led a higher education delegation to New Orleans,U.S. to attend the NAFSA 2024 Annual Conference & Expo. A total of 24 Chinese leading universities showcased at the China Pavilion.

On May 30, CEAIE and the Chinese Embassy in the U.S. co-hosted 2 China sessions on study in China and China-US education cooperation respectively. Mr. Yang Jun introduced the achievements of higher education development in China, as well as the favorable policies and latest initiatives to promote study in China. Ms. Shen Xuesong, Minister Counselor of education at the Chinese Embassy, highlighted the Young Envoys Scholarship (YES) program and expressed the willingness to work together with the US to open up a new dimension of China-US cooperation to increase trust and clear up misunderstandings by further strengthening education cooperation and expanding youth exchanges between the two countries. Mr. Shi Jianzhong, Vice President of China University of Political Science and Law, and Mr. Wang Fan, Vice President of Sun Yat-sen University, shared their own thoughts and innovative practices for improving the internationalization and international cooperation of Chinese universities. The two sessions attracted nearly 300 international educators in attendance.

In the afternoon of May 28, CEAIE and the Chinese Embassy in the U.S. jointly organized the China Reception. Mr.Yang Jun, Ms. Shen Xuesong and Dr. Fanta Aw, CEO of NAFSA, delivered welcome remarks to nearly 200 international educators.

During NAFSA 2024, the delegation established efficient connections with international counterparts from more than 40 countries and regions, and actively participated in various sessions and networking activities.
