World Digital Education Alliance officially launched

On January 30th, the 2024 World Digital Education Conference with the theme "Digital Education: Application, Sharing, and Innovation" opened in Shanghai. Chen Jining, Secretary of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, Cai Dafeng, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, and Mikulescu, President of the General Conference of UNESCO, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Huai Jinpeng, Minister of Education of China, delivered a keynote speech at the plenary session. During the conference, the World Digital Education Alliance was officially launched. Liu Limin, President of China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) briefed on the background of the alliance's establishment and the plan for its future development.
Liu Limin pointed out that the digital transformation of education was gradually becoming a common action for education reform worldwide, making an innovative path to achieve learning revolution and improve education quality. The initiative to establish the World Digital Education Alliance was proposed by China Education Association for International Exchange at the 2023 World Conference on Digital Education, receiving enthusiastic support from stakeholders. To date, 104 institutions from 41 countries and regions have joined the alliance.
The World Digital Education Alliance embodies the principles set forth by the Transforming Education Summit and the UNESCO High-Level Steering Committee on Education 2030.. The alliance's core objectives include promoting global digital education transformation, establishing sustainable mechanisms for international collaboration in digital education, advocating for equitable and inclusive educational opportunities, and ensuring high-quality education experiences for all.
