The 2022 UNIQLO Scholarship Delegation Visited Japan

The 2022 UNIQLO Scholarship delegation paid a visit to Japan from May 14th to 20th, 2023. Mr. Zong Wa, Deputy Secretary-General of CEAIE,led the delegation and attended the related activities.


 Mr. Zong Wa attended the reception on May 16th. He pointed out that the world is undergoing profound changes, and the younger generation should take their responsibilities, seek true knowledge, develop pragmatic skills, and aim high to contribute to the development of the country and the world. The students should treasure this opportunity to engage with Japanese students and people, to cultivate intercultural communication capabilities and to promote the mutual understanding between China and Japan.


During the seven-day visit, the delegation visited the Chinese Embassy in Japan. Through the meeting and discussion with Minister Counsellor Yang Yu, the student delegates gained an in-depth understanding of the China-Japan relation and people-to-people exchanges at non-governmental level. The delegation visited the headquarters and several retail stores of Fast Retailing Group, and had talks with Tadasi Yanai, the founder of the group, gaining a better understanding of the corporate’s culture and deepened thinking of their own career path. Waseda University received the delegation with peer interactions between Chinese and  Japanese undergraduates. Some local historical and cultural sites were visited as well, for the students’ to experience a traditioanl and authentic Japan.


Organized by CEAIE, the delegation invited 16 undergraduate students, from 12 universities including National School of development at Peking University, Jilin University, Fudan University and Zhejiang University, etc. The students expressed that this important and unforgettable visit to Japen was significant to their personal growth, because it provided them with high-level lectures, in-person interactions, and inspirations for their academic life and professional development.


The UNIQLO Scholarship Program, aims to contribute to the active role of the Chinese youth in the world, was jointly established by CEAIE and Fast Retailing in 2012 to foster future-oriented international talents by setting up scholarship fund for outstanding students, conducting a variety of corporate exchange activities and providing career development opportunities. By May 2023, a total of 456 Chinese undergraduates were funded by the UNIQLO Scholarship Program, and 136 of them participated in the Japan visits.
