From August 3rd to 5th, 2017, the Vocational Education Committee of China Education Association of International Exchange (VEC-CEAIE) convened its 5th annual general meeting in Baotou city. The conference was organized by Baotou Vocational & Technical Collage.
Mr. Lin Yu, Director of the Higher Vocational Education Development Division of Vocational Education and Adult Education Department of Ministry of Education, made the keynote speech.
He stressed the significance of the reform and development of higher vocational education to the structural reform on the supply side for the vocational education, higher education and even the whole education sector in China.
He said, the aims of higher vocational education shall focus more on education for innovation and entrepreneurship, and targeted poverty alleviation. Talking about international cooperation, he encouraged higher vocational colleges to be more confident in going global to serve the needs of “Belt and Road” Initiative, especially to make endeavors to set up training centers and schools abroad.
Mr. Lin Yu hopes that VEC-CEAIE can play a bigger role as a major platform of international cooperation and exchanges, as a result, making greater contribution to the internationalization of vocational education.
Mr. Xie Yonghua, President of Nanjing Vocational Institute of Industry Technology (NITT) , made the 2016/2017 annual report on behalf of VEC-CEAIE, debriefing major tasks and achievements in areas of platform building, capacity building and program development, and 2017/2018 work plan.
In cases sharing session, representatives from 5 member colleges and China Nonferrous Metal Industry Human Resource Center were invited to share with the audience best practices in internationalization.
In the summary speech, CEAIE Deputy Secretary General Mr. Zong Wa expressed gratitude to VEC-CEAIE governing board and member colleges for their continuous support and encouraged member colleges to be more active in running overseas schools and in promoting study-in-China programs.He pointed out that VEC-CEAIE should continue its endeavors to develop programs and activities and to serve the needs of its member colleges in their international cooperation and exchanges.
About 120 representatives from VEC-CEAIE member colleges attended the conference.
