From April 11th to13th, 2018, a work meeting of new schools for AFS Intercultural Program and Foreign Teacher Program was held in Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province. More than 80 representatives from the 10 local chapters and 66 schools from 12 provinces and 27 cities attended the meeting. Mr. Li Shengli, Deputy Director-General of Hebei Provincial Department of Education participated and made opening remarks.
In the meeting, Madam Zhang Ling, Vice-Chair of Volunteer Committee for Intercultural Education of China Education Association for International Exchange(CVCIE), delivered the work report. Ms. Li Yang, Director of Department of Student and Teacher Intercultural Programs made the program introduction. Mrs. Zhang Xiuying, Vice President of Shijiazhuang No.42 Middle School, gave the speech on the theme of "forming a strong team for cultural exchanges and promoting school development". Mrs. Di Yan, an international trainer at AFS, introduced the theory of intercultural learning in the training of international comprehension learning. In addition, several sections, such as task raining, school visits and parallel forums were also designed and conducted in this meeting, giving the participants opportunities to share the experience and have interactive discussion.
According to the participants, the work meeting laid a solid foundation for the new schools’ participation of the AFS Intercultural Program and Foreign Teacher Program in the near future, indicating the direction and heightening confidence for the schools’ further development of international cultural exchange.
The Sixth Board Meeting of CVCIE was held at the same time, Madam Yang Meng, board chair of the committee, Madam Zhang Ling, Vice Chair, Mr. Li Shoumin, Chief of Hebei Education Department International Office, Mr. Yu Jia, Chief of Jiamusi Foreign Affairs Bureau attended the meeting, Mr. Zhong Mingjin, Secretary General of Guangdong Education Association for International Exchange, Mr. Yang Zhen, Deputy General Secretary of Changzhou Education Association for International Exchange participated.
