The UK-China Higher Education Roundtable and the UK-China Vocational Education Roundtable Held

On September 18th, 2015, the UK-China Higher Education Roundtable and the UK-China Vocational Education Roundtable were held in Cardiff, UK. During the UK-China Higher Education Roundtable, presidents and representatives from Zhejiang University, Jilin University, Wuhan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Northwest A&F University, University of Electronic Science and Technology, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, the University of Nottingham Ningbo China, Cardiff University, the University of Nottingham, University of Exeter and University of Birmingham shared experiences on cross border education and discussed new cooperation models. They also had in-depth exchanges on boosting innovation and collaboration between research institutions and business. Mr. Sheng Jianxue, Secretary-General of CEAIE and Mr. Dewi Knight, Supervisor for External Relations, British Council (China) addressed at the Roundtable.

Over 30 college presidents and directors of international office from both countries were present at the UK-China Vocational Education Roundtable. The achievements and challenges of the vocational collaboration were reviewed under the UK-China Partners in Education framework (2013-2015), and recommendations and action plan were discussed for UK-China collaboration in vocational education in the next three years. Mr. Zong Wa, Deputy Secretary-General of CEAIE and Mr. John Widdowson, President of Association of Colleges and Principal and Chief Executive of New College Durham, co-chaired the Roundtable.
