The Opening Ceremony of CEAIE-Study Melbourne Language and Internship Program in China Was Successfully Held in Beijing and Chengdu

The opening ceremony of CEAIE-Study Melbourne Language and Internship Program in China was held in Beijing and Chengdu on 3rd December, 2018. This program has been jointly launched by China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) and Victoria Government of Australia since December, 2016 , with the purpose of promoting mobility and communication, enhancing Australian students' understanding on China and its economic development, strengthening friendship between young people from China and Australia by providing study and internship opportunities for Victorian Students. 28 students have arrived for the 2018 program. They will spend 3 weeks in Beijing Normal University and Southwest University for Finance and Economics studying Chinese, culture and business, and 5 weeks interning in companies and organizations in Beijing and Chengdu.

Ms. Shen Xuesong, Deputy Secretary General of CEAIE delivered the welcome speech at opening ceremony in Beijing. She stressed the importance of educational exchange between young people from China and Australia and hoped the students could make most of the experiences to gain a better understanding of China, and play a positive role in promoting communications between young people of both countries. Brooke Hartigan, Minister Counselor for Education and Research of Australian Embassy in China, Cheng Hongguang, Director of Office of International Exchange & Cooperation of Beijing Normal University, Li Qian, Education Service Manager of Victoria Government Trade & Investment Office attended the opening ceremony in Beijing. Xiao Lei, Director of Office of China Education Opportunities of CEAIE, Gaile Barnes, Consul and Senior Administrative Officer of Australian Consulate-General Chengdu, Wang Xin, the Vice Dean of College of International Education of SWUFE, Wang Duoxiao, Education Service Manager of Victoria Government Trade & Investment Chengdu Office attended the opening ceremony in Chengdu.
